For those who would prefer to avoid shopping, there are plenty of wildlife and nature tours that operate throughout the area, as well as horse and the Camel rides along the beach and through the surrounding mountains.
As with any coastal town, there are plenty of places for you to relax and unwind on the sand as the waves crash in front of you. The sun shines almost all year round here and you’ll definitely be able to enjoy an afternoon soaking up some rays by the pool or the beach. In addition, all of the expected water activities are available – friendly local experts operate surfing, wind boarding and fishing classes. Many of these companies will have package deals or discount deals with hotels and riads throughout the area, so check if you can snag a bargain before you go hunting for things to fill up your free time.
For the tamer, Essaouira is also often referred to as the artistic home of Morocco, with craft, music and creative art playing a large role in the lives of the locals. The city is home to many art galleries, museums and often features performances of local musicians. As well as this, Essaouira is home to some of the most incredible restaurants in the country. The availability of fresh produce combined with the Moroccan passion for flavor experimentation and production of wholesome and delicious food means that any restaurant you visit here will be sure to surprise and delight.
