Morocco’s Best Destinations that Should be on your List

1. Marrakech
It’s definitely not a hidden jewel, but it has to be on the list. Marrakech is one of the most vibrant, exciting cities on the globe and has an endless list of things to see and do. Visit the medina, eat in authentic local restaurants and indulge your taste buds, relax is the Majorelle Gardens, or treat yourself to a traditional steam bath. If you’re looking to shop while on your holiday, the souks of Marrakech are undeniably the best in the country.

2. Merzouga & The Dunes
The desert town that lies at the foot of the Erg Chebbi sand dunes is a must see for anyone travelling through Morocco. There are some incredible tours that operate through this city, allowing you to ride a camel into the nearby desert and spend a night with a traditional Berber camp. Even just visiting the town will leave you breathless – the sand dune landscapes appear as if they’ve been peeled off a postcard. This city is any devoted adventurer or photographer’s dream. When, while the lovely valley teems with

“Traveling—it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller.“

Ibn Battuta

3. Essaouira
This town is famous across the globe, and there’s good reason for it to be. The white washed city has a calm atmosphere; gorgeous beaches, friendly people and fresh seafood that will make you wish you never had to leave. The history of the city is also one that will leave you in awe, and it’s a great idea to tour Essaouira with a local guide so that you can learn more about it’s hidden secrets and storybook culture. It’s also home to some incredible craftwork and the souks here are one of a kind, making it a great place to snap up a souvenir.

4. The High Atlas Mountain Region
If you’re in Morocco, you can probably already see the High Atlas, and we recommend you see it a bit closer. To travel through the High Atlas, whether you’re trekking for a week or driving through it for a day, is to experience the real variety, color and beauty of Morocco as a country. There are many nearby towns that make for great pit stops for lunch and a plethora of Berber camps throughout the region to visit. We highly recommend seeing Todra Gorge in the East, Jbel Toubkal and Ait-Ben Haddou, all of which have their own stories, sights and multiple local guides willing to assist in your experience.
