The highest peak of the Atlas Mountain Range, and the highest mountain in North Africa, Toubkal is a formidable opponent, but one that the Moroccan locals have conquered long ago. Partnered with these experienced locals, we invite you to challenge yourself on this trek, experiencing the mountain and the sights it offers along the way. We also invite you to get to know your enthusiastic guide, who will undoubtedly become your friend by the end of the journey, as he is your key to unlocking the best mountain views in the country. This is a trek for the daring and the adventurous, and one that will continue to reward you for the rest of your life with exhilarating and fond memories. Moderate – strenuous, boots required; you need to reasonably confident of your fitness, preferably having had some previous experience of trekking and changes in climate. It is recommended that you bring (depending upon season): good walking boots; sleeping bag (3 seasons); waterproofs and fleece/duvet jackets, hats, balaclavas or ear muffs; gloves; rambler or ski pole; personal toiletries; small First Aid kit, thermal underwear (Dec-May); day pack; filled water bottles; torch and batteries (LED head torches are excellent), penknife (remember not to pack in hand baggage for flight); towel, sunscreen, insect repellent, hygienic wipes, nibbles and/or dried fruit. Day 1: Marrakech
Arrive Marrakech. depending on your time of arrival you will have the afternoon/evening to explore the wonders of Marrakech. Visit the Jemaa El Fna Square, the Old Medina, the Koutoubia Minaret, the Bahia Palace, the Majorelle Botanical Gardens, the ruins of Elbadi Palace where you can see the tanners and dyers quarters, join the hustle and bustle and bargain in the souks or if you just want to sit back and get orientated, take a position in one of the many cafe’s & restaurants that border the main square and observe the madness beyond.

Day 2: Marrakech – Tachedirt
After breakfast and a group meeting at 8 am. Your leader will go through everything you need to know about the trek before you set off into the mountains. Leave Marrakech behind and drive to Oukaimeden, the starting point of our trek where we meet our support crew, enjoy a lunch, and prepare our gear. Our first objectives are Tizi n’Eddi (2980m), a great warm up with panoramic views of Imane valley and the High Atlas Mountains summits from the top. We then descend to the village of Tachedirt, Arrive at Fousaou camp (2300m), at the base of Tizi n’Likemt.

Day 3: Tacheddirt – Tizi Likemt – Azib Likemt
Rise and shine for breakfast we start our ascent of Tizi n’Likemt (3550m) from the pass we have incredible views of Toubkal mountains to the vast Sahara beyond. We descend to the secluded village of Azib Likemt and continue to the foot of Tizi n’Ourai (2900m), where we camp for the night.

Day 4: Tizi n’Ourai – Ifni Lake
Today is the hardest day climbing up to the col Tizi n’Ourai (3110m), we have splendid views over the cultivated valley floor far below. It is a tough descent today down to the village of Amsouzart at (1740m), where we stop for lunch picnic. From there, our path turns west and climbs up to the peaceful Ifni Lake at 2310m. where you’ll spend the night beneath a huge mountain sky filled with stars.

Day 5: Ifni Lake – Nelter Refuge
After breakfast, climb the steep and challenging section out Toubkal will be towering over us as we navigate gorges and difficult paths up to Tizi n’Ouanoums (3600m). After lunch with a spectacular view across the Atlas Mountain Range, spend the night at the Nelter Refuge at (3200m) ready to summit North Africa’s highest peak in the morning.

Day 6: Nelter Refuge – Mt Toubkal
Leave in darkness and tackle the rocky terrain that leads to the summit of Mt Toubkal. At 4167 metres above sea level, we continue up steep scree slopes to hit the summit ridge at 3940m and follow the crest of the ridge to the summit at 4167m. You are now standing on the highest point in north Africa and the sense of achievement is immense, superb views from the summit, which on a clear day can include the entire Atlas Mountain range. Our descent takes us down the north side of the mountain down the valley to the village of Aremd (1900m).

Day 7: Armed – Marrakech
After breakfast we depart for Marrakech, on arrival, meet with a local guide and head off to the old medina through an early voyage. Our visit is at the excellent Bahia Palace, an amazing manor fabricated in way back to 1866. It was a haven of ex-slaves who had ascended to positions prominence in the management of Moulay Hassan. Our investigation leads as to the peaceful internal patios, filled with the fragrance of orange bloom, and the numerous abolition spots and salons that incorporate a homely and rich abode. This is before heading back to the Djemaa El Fna. The remnant of the day is marked by further prodding the streets and leisure shopping in the bazaars.

Day 8: Depart Marrakech
The trip ends after breakfast at our hotel in Marrakech. There are no activities planned today, so you are free to depart from Marrakech at any time.
