Association Ighir

A group that aims to assist the physically handicapped in Tinghir and its surrounding area, this organisation currently operates through both educational resources and logistical solutions. They help provide education and training for the handicapped, focusing on handicraft trades that enable affected individuals to become financially independent, form social bonds with other craftspeople and the communities in which they live, and enhance their sense of self-worth through selling and promoting their crafts. Additionally, they offer physiotherapy and other forms of pain relief to improve the quality of life for those affected, as well as free transport to other regions in the area, allowing visits for those who would otherwise be unable to travel.

We believe the group’s one-on-one connection with the community drives the growth of a healthier society, and their contribution to craftwork supports the economic livelihood of not only the individuals but the region as a whole. In this way, they enable individuals to thrive and help the community to thrive as well, providing education on the handling and care of the physically handicapped. This promotes a greater sense of acceptance and understanding in the community, which we believe is a crucial element of social and economic growth.

In our dedication to this growth, we have partnered with the association to provide economic support and, wherever possible, material support. This allows you to know that when you travel through Morocco, and in particular Tinghir, you are helping to promote a sense of self-worth for the handicapped and a sense of understanding and acceptance throughout the community.
